The Sustainable City Plan was created to enhance our resources, prevent harm to the natural environment and human health, and benefit the social and economic well-being of the community for the sake of current and future generations

Timeline
- Proposed by City staff and the Task Force on the Environment in 1992
- Adopted by City Council in September 1994
- Comprehensive Program Update and Expansion in adopted in 2003
- Annual status reports using the indicators

The Plan includes eight Goal Areas which, taken together, present a vision for sustainability in the community:

- Open Space and Land Use
